  • From Headquarters
  • When will Meets and THS resume?

We know you can’t wait to get back to Social Camping – but there is very little guidance from the government at present as to how campsites should run. We’ve worked hard to put our own operating principles together for Club sites and they are centred around social distancing measures. We are not allowing groups to camp together and are only accepting individual bookings. Whilst we can operate with the principles of social distancing in place, it’s clear from current government guidance that gatherings of larger groups are unable to take place. As such, we believe it is highly unlikely that Club camping events such as Meets or Temporary Holiday Sites will be able to proceed before the end of July, and potentially beyond, and would encourage all Club units to make suitable arrangements to prevent member disappointment or financial loss. For the moment all Meets and THS’s with a start date commencing in August have not yet been cancelled. The situation is under constant review. Any updates will be communicated through the Secretary of the Club Unit.

  • I have a Club Meet or Group booking on a Club Site, will this event go ahead?

We have taken the difficult decision to cancel all group bookings on Club Sites for the 20/21 camping season, including Meets and THS’s. We will be contacting all organisers to notify them of this decision, and future bookings for groups can be placed for events from March 2021 onwards, once Greenfields House has reopened.

Our sites teams will be responsible for ensuring our campsites operate in line with government guidelines on social distancing, and this would be more challenging with groups than individuals. We are not accepting group bookings. We are operating with reduced staff numbers, and we need to support them in their roles to ensure our sites are operated responsibly.

After much discussion the Yorkshire Region Council Executive have reluctantly agreed to cancel/defer the Big Meet which was planned for September 4/5/6th 2020.

We feel that it is probably/highly unlikely that we will be allowed to have social gatherings by this time and it would be sensible to transfer all the planning etc to 17-20th June 2021.

We are really disappointed to have to do this because we, like most people, are really looking forward to getting out in our vans to socialise with our friends but in the present climate feel that it really would be unrealistic to carry on with the meet.

However, we most certainly will be planning the meet for next June and do hope that you will all join us in celebrating a return to the camping norm and are looking forward to receiving your bookings next year.

All we can say for now is ‘stay safe’ and watch out for further news in the future.
